Tea ceremonies or ‘cha-do’ in Japanese, offer a respite from the pace of modern life and provide time to relax and relish the sanctity of each moment and movement in life. Originally introduced from China, these ceremonies were refined over centuries to take on a distinctly Japanese appreciation and retain their popularity and significance to this day.

For guests wishing to participate in the meditative experience of having ‘matcha’ (powdered green tea) prepared for you and then enjoyed in a traditional tea room, ceremonies are performed twice weekly – Mondays from 14:00 to 15:00 and Thursday from 11:00 to 12:00 – at the Patio Daimon complex, nearby Zenko-ji Temple.

Taking approximately 30 minutes, please ensure that you are at the venue at least 5 minutes prior to the workshop.

Advance booking by email is required 3 days in advance.
